1 John – Chapter 3

February 9, 2010

I cant help but think about the not-so-easy tasks of pastors as I listen to Bro.Greg, talking about 1 John Chapter 3. Pastors need to learn how to truly love and obey God. As shepherds, pastors face the unlovable sheep in the field. “Loving the unlovables”.. and perhaps, nurturing them even if oftentimes, some “black” sheep go their own way. Pastors need to call them back, sometimes forcing them by using a hook. The challenge is they must learn to do it with pure heart, doing it because of the unconditional love for the lost sheep. True pastors will naturally correct their sheep without condemning them. A pastor oversees the flock and it takes fervent love for each sheep so as he understands the value of each each member in the flock. When one sheep runs his temper out, he should extend his rope further and be more patient- one important ingredient of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. True love and obedience will show, especially to pastors who are daily tested in faith, facing every challenge in praise to the Lord.
