Buguias Medical Mission Trip. Cold Mission Trip. But the Team was on Fire to Serve!

Seeing My Breath. Drying My Nostrils. Cracking My Throat. The price of ministering in the cold highlands of Buguias is all worth it. Everything was awesome in and out of my three-layered clothing!

I had the chance to be part of the medical mission in Loo, Buguias in Benguet last Saturday. It was my first time to work with a medical mission team and I have learned a lot. I am praying that someday, there will also be something like that here in my town. God will provide. :)

I was not able to help in the Counselling team, where I was stationed in. It was because my Ilocano is just "1 kilo"! lol! I cannot speak their language well so I was just helping Prince, a colleague from Thailand, to do the documentation. I was able to speak to some kids, youth, and mothers who finished their turn for the checkup. Praise God because some of them can talk to me in Tagalog. It was great to hear their stories and minister to them in simple ways such as encouraging them to persevere in their particular struggles in life.

God is an awesome God. I see Him in the mountains. I see Him in the eyes of the innocent people there. Praise Him.

Chillin' With Some Baguio Street Kids

What a moment when each of these kids sing for me when I was strolling alone around Burnham Park. Their voices are heart melting. They deserve to be loved.

Two days before that, we went to Lower Rock Quarry Baguio City to meet some kids and give them their own blankets. Here's a sweet Angel holding hers with such an innocent smile of gratitude.

TBT: Did this video a few years ago and set it into private for a reason I don't remember

I created a medley of the songs "Who am I?", "Through it all", and "All for love", uploaded it in youtube, and set it in private after a few weeks for a reason I can't remember. Now I am sharing it again. I have been having this rush inside me toward making songs again. May God be the center of every piece I will be making again. God will fix my schedules too! Jesus bless Your Name!

Above All (cover by Chibi) ^_^

Upload Music Files - Embed Audio - Above All (cover by Chibi) http://yourlisten.com/ocbinart/above-all-cover-by-chibi

Above all powers, above all kings
Above all nature and all created things
Above all wisdom and all the ways of man
You were here before the world began

Above all kingdoms, above all thrones
Above all wonders the world has ever known
Above all wealth and treasures of the earth
There's no way to measure what you're worth

Crucified
Laid behind a stone
You lived to die
Rejected and alone
Like a rose
Trampled on the ground
You took the fall
And thought of me
Above all

GOD IS INDEED ABOVE ALL!

I can live
I can love
I can reach the heavens above
I can right
What is wrong
I can sing just any song
I can dance
I can fly
and touch the rainbow in the sky
I can be your good friend
I can love you until the end

What took you so long to make me see
How lucky I am 'cause I am free
Free to do the things I wanna do
What took you so long to make me feel
I can give love a love so real
What took you so long to let me know

I can live
I can love
I can reach the heavens above
I can right
What is wrong
I can sing just any song
I can dance
I can fly
and touch the rainbow in the sky
I can be your good friend
I can love you until the end

You with the sad eyes
Don't be discouraged
Oh I realize
It's hard to take courage
In a world full of ppl
you can lose sight of it all
and darkness that fills inside you
makes you feel so small

But I see your true colors
shining through
and I see your true colors
that's why I love you
so don't be afraid
to let them show your true colors
your true colors are beautiful like a rainbow

Painful Reminders

Acts 14:19
Then Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there; and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead.

God has many ways to deter us from sin. One is to provide reminders for us that we never take disobedience to Him lightly. Before his conversion, Paul assumed that he was righteous before God. In reality, Paul was so disoriented to God that he arrested and executed Christians in order to please Him! Paul was so blinded to God’s will that when he watched Stephen being brutally murdered for his faith, Paul’s heart was hardened, and he became even more determined to imprison other Christians.
It is significant that there are two occurrences of stoning mentioned in the NT- Stephen’s and Paul’s. Was it coincidence that God allowed Paul to be stoned in the same manner as Stephen had been? God had certainly forgiven Paul for his involvement in Stephen’s death, but God also left him with a reminder of what his arrogance had led him to do. If pride could blind Paul to God once, pride could do it again. Perhaps Paul’s “thorn in flesh” was a direct result of this stoning. It may have served a visible reminder to Paul, and to others, of the terrible consequences of sin.
God is absolutely just. He loves, and forgives, but He does not compromise His righteousness. God deals with us uniquely. He draws upon our experiences to teach us about Himself. God will forgive us of our sin, but He may provide stark reminders of the ugliness of sin. Let us thank God that He loves us enough to remind us of the destructive consequences of sin in our lives. Blackaby(s), Experiencing God, daily devotionals (PH: Makati, 1998). 275.]

CONTEXT: Paul and Barnabas escaped from Iconium to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia. They healed a lame man and when people saw this and heard Paul’s words, they worshipped them as Zeus and Hermes, but Paul and Barnabas torn their clothes and rebuked them. The Jews hated Paul.

DEATH BY STONING: “Stoning is a method of execution during which a group of people, usually peers of the guilty party, throws stones at the condemned person until he or she dies. Death by stoning was prescribed in the Old Testament Law as a punishment for various sins. Both animals and people could be the subjects of stoning (Exodus 21:28), and stoning seems to have been associated with sins that caused irreparable damage to the spiritual or ceremonial purity of a person or an animal.” .. “Another mode of execution that was also considered stoning involved throwing the guilty party headlong down a steep place and then rolling a large stone onto the body.”- like what could have happened to Jesus in Luke 4:29 but He miraculously escaped. “[http://www.gotquestions.org/Bible-stoning.html, viewed on Oct.1,2015.]

PERSPECTIVE OF STONERS: hating sin. Judgment. On the spot.
PERSPECTIVE FROM THE ONE STONED: Fright. Shame. Anger. Plead. Sorry.
PERSPECTIVE FROM EXPECTATORS: Agreement with stoners. Sympathy for the one stoned. I don’t care at all.

PAUL DID NOT DIE: unlike Stephen, Paul lived after the stoning. He was reminded of God’s grace for him. Not to attack his conscience about what happened to Stephen but to remind him that he is a changed man of God and that he is living by His grace. His stoning had a purpose, but that purpose certainly was not because he sinned that time.

EMPHASIS OF STONING: Ugliness of Sin. Paul was reminded of its ugliness from his past.

God did not use that situation to punish Paul about something. It was just a reminder of him about the ugliness of sin. That he may not fall into it and he will be able to know how ugly it is to be punished because of sin. The gospel that he is delivering to every city involves this truth. People are sinners, and the ugly punishment of sin has been removed from us through God’s grace and love demonstrated on the cross. We are all free from the ugliness of sin because of Jesus!

PAUL’S EXPERIENCES: he was the boldest preacher because of his real experiences with God. He needed to experience the extremes to be as bold as he was. This is the reason why his preaching have content that brings life. And God did it through him. How about you? How  are your experiences affecting your purpose in spreading the Gospel?

The Noise of the World and the Jolt in the Bone

There are many times that I get tired of the noises both in the real world and the virtual universe. The business of all creatures and the consequences of all works are quite overwhelming. There are so many likes and dislikes and discontentment is outrageously rampant. Too many thirsty and hungry self-centered individuals cry and shout out, "i don't have enough". Truly, discontenment is infinite. Nothing is new, all things are obsolete just a little later.

These and more are the reasons why there are times that I just want to shut the world in front of me and wonder about God's thoughts toward these noises.

I feel ashamed of my own world when I imagine God in front of me. But I know His faithfulness to those who remain in Him is as wide as from the east up to the west and His love endures forever, and His grace knows no bounds. But hey, He is just. All the  "jammed sounds" of all generations will be dealt by Him in His appointed time.

I pray that all of us will be ready on that day.

Can Buy Planet Shakers Ticket but Cannot Tithe?

If you have been in a relationship or in a relationship or perhaps married now, and your significant other can buy his or her close friend a box of pizza when you do not actually receive even a slice of it, surely, you will feel terrible about it. "You can buy him/her the whole box when you don't even dare giving me a slice?", perhaps you cry to him/her. You may rudely add to that too, "Oh wait, did you use the money I gave you to buy that?"

This may also be true when you went to the PlanetShaker's concert in Manila and spend a lot on your transportation and tickets. You bought the ticket online at 1800Php, drove down to manila (if you are from the province, like 200Km) and spend 1500Php for fuel. And you shout, clap, and enjoy the warmth vibration of the slams and clangs along with the enthusiastic power of every beat as your favorite Christian band starts to perform. Of course, they are leading you to worship the Lord- The Lord who has actually provided you the money that you have used for the tickets, fuel, and others. And what? You forgot about your tithe? (intentionally or not maybe?). You just act it out like "God this one is for you, let this be part of my tithe ok?".

I cannot understand why a lot of us Christians today miss the mark. This is not about us. This is not about who is singing out there or who is leading us to worship. It is about Him and our heart towards Him. Why do you have to spend a lot for an extravagant worship? Is that how you understand how God is pleased? Is attending concerts your definition of extravagant worship?

Reckoning with the truth that we have already heard, studied, and understood, most of us still fail. God is loving and gracious, but isn't it too much if we intentionally pursue the blindness that is tolerated by this world? Using the grace card too much is really dangerous.

It is ok to join the Planetshakers as they sing out praises to the Lord. It is totally fine. However, it is always about the motive of the heart that needs to be checked. If you can spend such amount for a one-night event, how come you cannot be faithful to God? or have you at least helped the poor or beggars or street kids? Have you realized how  far can 1800Php or 1500Php go for a poor family who eats rice and salt everyday? How can you worship God in Araneta Coliseum when you are aware of what is happening in the marginalized group of the society?

Attending concerts and  being proud of it while knowing yourself as an unfaithful servant of God is not something to be proud of. Do you really know who God is? Do you really understand what worship is in God's perspective?

Our selfishness is getting worse. This is the reason why many people hate Christians. I understand why some people get tired of us as we call ourselves Christians yet we are becoming more and more unChristians.

I am not complaining. I am crying over the time wasted. The efforts wasted. The early church's fire, I am afraid is getting non-sense in the eyes of the contemporary youth.

I hope everyone of us will be like that woman who gave her small cents- two last cents in her pocket to offer to the Lord. Such heart to give what she had for the master of all. She did it not for any return of relief or comfort or grandeur in her life. What she did was pleasing to God. Her heart pleased God.

If you love God, obey Him.
Know Him, know His commands then and understand the implications of such today.
