War is an ugly thing. It has never been any good in anyone's sight. There are wars that are greater than others, some are cold, some are really terribly hot.
Killing is disgusting to our sight. But the Bible actually does not say that there should be no killing. Although Exodus 20:13 says "You shall not kill", the context includes the Hebrew word that literally means “the intentional, premeditated killing of another person with malice; murder. ” In the Old Testament, God often ordered the Israelites to go to war with other nations (1 Samuel 15:3; Joshua 4:13). He ordered the death penalty for numerous crimes (Exodus 21:12, 15; 22:19; Leviticus 20:11). So, God is not against killing in all circumstances, but only murder. That He does not really want that. The wars were so bloody in the Old Testament. But those wars needed to take place.

We should understand that war is necessary. Why so? War can be considered a righteous response to evil, which is the source of sin (Romans 3:10-18). At the same time, Ecclesiastes 3:8 declares that “There is…a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.” Evil is ugly, hence the consequence is ugly as well.

The world is getting worse as it is filled with with sin, hatred, and evil (Romans 3:10-18). It all seems organic. Sin is growing. But surely as evil prosper over time, the good prosper even more. In the future, we are actually expecting worse scenarios as the Bible says, living in the ends times means that we will hear wars, nations fighting against nations, sins are getting worse, families break, and so forth.. Hence, war is inevitable. And the followers of CHrist become more passionate and more prayerful and bolder in faith.

Hence, we as Christians should not desire war and neither to oppose the government God has placed in authority over us all (Romans 13:1-4; 1 Peter 2:17). In trying times like this, that Ukraine and Russia are not getting along well, and there's an impending blowing up of WW3, our role is to pray for godly wisdom for our leaders, praying for the safety of the military, praying for quick resolution to conflicts, and praying for a minimum of casualties among civilians be it with the defender's or with the aggressor's side  (Philippians 4:6-7).

Let us also pray for one another that when the time comes that the Lord Jesus comes back to judge the living and the dead, we are there, standing righteous before Him as we kept our faith in Jesus, who made us all worthy to come before Him. Because only through His blood, that we can come to Him white and clean, as if we have never sinned...
