Everything is temporary
The first chapter of peter is like a big eye-opener for me. For a fact, this is the first time that I am given the prompting to read the book (considering its brevity, I have not read the whole book in the past). Maybe it’s because I always look at Peter as someone who denied Jesus 3 times. It’s his “trademark” for me. But now, I’m over it.
I see that Peter has a lot to say to urge me to get more serious about my service to God, while enjoying it. His call to a holy living really inspired me to do better for God. “Be holy because I am holy..” v.16
Again, I was reminded that everything is temporary, and that I have to maximize all I have for God’s glory. We are like tourists in this place, soon we will leave and go to our true home, with Him. We don’t have all the time to spend here, so we need to prepare and pack up the things that we need before we leave. These things are the ingredients of the fruit of the Holy Spirit, which God Himself provides.
